The Artistic Journey and Life of Corey
Corey journey encompasses a lot of schools and life experience. He notes that all the education they teach you will never be as valuable as the human experience. Corey studied at Penn State University. He studied at the Penn State Altoona campus for two years and then his art portfolio was accepted at the University Park campus in State College. He was accepted into the School of Visual Arts(SoVA) in the College of Arts and Architecture. He then was part of creating a new program called Digital New Media. This major was developed based on pioneering students like Corey that wanted to push the boundaries as far as they could with art and technology. He was part of founding the DMG (Digital New Media Group).
During his last semester, Corey had what psychologists call a physic break from reality. During this time people and professors were amazed at the revelation of speech and ideas coming from him and many thought he was on LSD. This experience changed him for the rest of his life because he felt pure cosmic love and the oneness of the earth. He had to be hospitalized because many feared that he had lost his mind! This only made the next 10 years a period of confusion, wonder, and despair. During that time he also enrolled at the Art Institute of York and majored in Graphic Design. He made Dean's list three consecutive semesters with a 3.8 g.p.a. and attended for another two years before finding out that the college only accepted 20 of his 118 credits from Penn State. This led to him dropping out of college because of a lack of faith in the school system that he felt was only driven by making a profit.
Feeling let down by the school system he embarked on his own quest to find the truth. The path to nowhere leads to oneself, one has to totally lose oneself and then on the way back through one will find who one truly is. Although Corey state's that he would never want anyone to experience the pain and suffering that he went through, he realizes that it was necessary to bring about great change. Throughout this whole "process" he created artwork only sporadically depending upon the state of depression he was in and never lost his faith. A lot of his artwork reflects pain, suffering, addiction, heartache, mental instability, neurosis, change, joy, serenity, happiness, truth, love and ultimately the quest to find truth (GOD) and the pursuit of happiness( ONESELF).
From here on out his artwork will be focusing on adding vibrancy to the world through his artwork and helping people find connectedness from within. Spirituality will be focused on personal level and through his artwork, he hopes to help humanity by bringing the light to the sometimes very dark reality we put ourselves in. Upon purchase one can feel these life experiences come to life through his reflections on canvas. Bringing his artwork into your life and home adds a deep aspect of curiosity and is a great conversation starter about life and how you interpret it.
